🎯 Last week’s content
Last week I gave you 5 (+1) pieces of advice I learned on my way to 1000 followers.
If you haven't read it, be sure to catch up👇
✍️ Introduction
On Thursday, July 6, Threads was released in the App Store.
Only in the US, which is typical for such a release.
Threads has managed over 150 million downloads in two weeks. Now it has to show that it can keep people coming back.
In Europe, Meta had to take a defeat in front of the court on Tuesday, July 4.
Meta now has to deal with the fact that it cannot merge data across different platforms.
Nevertheless, many have still downloaded the app through an apk-file or an Apple ID from abroad.
A few days ago, Meta suddenly locked out users in the EU and other countries where the app does not officially exist.
Posts could no longer be uploaded, comments could not be posted, but only the timeline could be seen.
Meta has now officially confirmed this.
Europe remains a strong market, and Meta hopes to make Threads available in other countries.
🥋 Elon vs. Zuck
After the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk and after the difficulties that have arisen, Meta has spoken of a new platform that is "reasonably managed and that you can trust.”
That's what product chief Chris Cox quoted.
Since Sunday, two weeks ago, Twitter has had a new reading limit.
A few days later, Threads was released, and this, of course, was a perfect time.
Elon Musk and Marc Zuckerberg have gone on the offensive after the takeover and the provocations.
Here is an interesting article about it👇

According to The Verge, Meta already collaborates with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Dalai Lama, and DJ Slime👇

The Goal
The goal is to create a platform that is "secure, easy to use, and reliable."
Whoever is active there should find a stable place to reach and grow an audience.
We will see how true this is.
It's a clever move on Meta's part. A year ago, many had already fled Twitter.
Nevertheless, Threads will not replace Twitter.
It's not a sufficient alternative.

📱 Structure of the app
I signed up to see what the app looks like.
I'm curious to see how it goes.
It's very similar to Twitter, of course.
I'll show you a few insights now:
“For you” page
Search page
Create a thread
The third point is right in the middle. This sends a clear message against Twitter.
It continues with:
Activity page.
Profile page
Settings.
A lot of Data is collected to build detailed profiles and serve targeted advertising.
Threads will not change this. When it comes to data protection, both are the same.
Many would like to see a more privacy-friendly public platform.
But not controlled by Mark Zuckerberg.
The counterattack
On July 13, Elon Musk followed up.
The long-announced payout to Creator has taken place, which was a fantastic move.
This is an incredible opportunity.
Some people even got paid up to 25.000$.
Here are some examples:
What are the requirements for the five million+ giveaway?
Twitter Blue
5 million impressions over the last three months
🫵 Impact
The word "Threads" is so beaten down by the algorithm on Twitter.
It gets almost no more views and impressions, no matter its context.
MiloBeideirs, an amazing creator, recently published a long-form tweet about threads.
Not about the platform but why threads are dying out on Twitter, and long-form tweets will perform better.
He spent much time, and the impressions and reactions were shockingly low.
Here you can watch the tweet:

Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
More reach for content creators
Instagram people are reached
It became much quieter on Twitter -> More chances to gain reach because many are absent
Content creators on Twitter were paid off
Disadvantages
Less qualitative content on Threads (you post what you think)
To much memes
People from Instagram who are overwhelmed
You can not delete your threads account even without deleting your Instagram account
Quick and easy to get followers
The hype is already falling.
Why would Mark Zuckerberg's Threads be an excellent alternative to Twitter and Elon Musk?
I don't get it.
But make up your own mind.
I will stay on Twitter for sure.
Let's wait and see what comes.
As always, I would be incredibly happy to receive your feedback via DM on Twitter or a comment.
I appreciate it!
Thanks for reading!
I wish you a productive week.
See you soon.
